Music is infectious. Developers often remark on how music can actually be 50% of the gaming experience.
But even more powerfully, music for a game can stand on its own as a seperate listening activity.
I am one of those strange individuals who likes to listen to game music soundtracks in my car while I drive.
I have listened to World of Warcraft and Riven on long trips, and found it to be very enjoyable. (My wife had
a different opinion, but I can't repeat her take in print.)
So I decided to make comments on music in computer games. And since games have made the transition to movies
I'm going to review soundtracks from movies as well. (My wife can deal with those a bit better.)
I am also going to cover disks that are pretty specific to our genre when I can. Things like game sound effects tracks,
which are not always synonomous with movie sound effect tracks. Hopefully, I will be fairly consistent about how I review.
The reviews will be placed here as I complete them. The titles will be chosen by me,
on my schedule, and are solely my opinion. I'm no professional reviewer but I htink that it would be useful to let people
know what is available. That also opens the door for occassional news - like the awards for music in games at various
award shows and the like.
Not all game music is readily available on CD or even as an MP3 for your IPod. But Occassionally when tracks are available
from the game I may be able to tell you haw to find a few of the better longer ones so you can make a home CD. You can also
message me by emailing webmaster AT pariahgames DOT com
(I'd like to make that a regular link for all of you, but you know how much spam I'll
find in there if I do!)
I have a fairly decent streo system, but I generally listen on a good set of headphones while on the computer so I can simulate
what you hear when playing. I do listen in the car as well, so if I hear a CD that doesn't do well on the highway I'll let you
know.
I have a limited amount of time to review. Don't expect to see hundreds of reviews popping up here overnight.
One feature I am including is a link to allow you to purchase the CD - if one is available. It will be in the left column of
the screen.
That's it. Now where did I put my headphones? Ahhhh...
